Window Blind Primer
"Will You Choose Wood, Composite or Venetian Blinds?..."
Window blinds, of
course, cover windows! But there's a lot more to it than this. Anyone can nail boards over their windows, nothing to it.
........Choosing window
blinds that are both stylish and durable requires knowledge and skill. Your blinds are a reflection of your personal style,
and you have many types to choose from.
Wood blinds are a perennial favorite for style and versatility. Usually constructed of
various Oriental hardwoods, lower-priced wood blinds don't have the durability of higher-quality slats that are constructed from American
hardwoods like Basswood.
The best selling-point of wood blinds is that you can match the colors and stains with your
cabinets and other wood accoutrements. The only real drawback to wood blinds is that over time they can warp and fade.
Composite blinds are made from a combination of polymers and wood products. This type of
window blind is fairly new and currently available only in shades of white.
The slat surface of these blinds can be a variation of a smooth polymer coating or even solid
and durable composite material. Composite blinds are big-sellers and are among the best values for your money.

Venetian blinds are a well-loved staple in window coverings. Made from curved, wide
metals, Venetian blinds come in shapes like curved, flat or a modern-looking elliptical. These blinds are a good choice if you're looking for
lifetime durability.
Another good buy for your money are PVC blinds; these are hardily constructed from poly vinyl or
chloride plastic vinyl and have a long life-span.

So versatile are these blinds that their slat's surface can be either embossed with a wood-like
stain or a smooth, colored white surface. The PVC's popularity stems from its durability, easy maintenance and its waterproof properties in
case it rains and you forgot to close the windows!
They do have their drawbacks, however; they're heavier than other types of window blinds which
make them harder to raise if you use them to cover a large picture window.
With all the choices of window blinds available, you can easily find the right material, the
right colors, and the right price for your home.
